
This program provides entry-level training for the person seeking a career as a Pharmacy Assistant. The program includes preparation in general medical areas such as terminology and law and ethics and a concentration in specialized pharmacy courses. Graduates will be able to assist the pharmacist in preparing and dispensing medications, maintaining written and computerized medication records, and in a variety of other tasks associated with pharmacy operations in hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, and where medication is dispensed. Graduates are eligible to sit for the national certification examination in pharmacy and may elect to continue their education to earn the Pharmacy Technician associate degree. This program is designed to be completed in a minimum of four quarters, depending on the student's class load.
